This week we said goodbye to Mrs. Whisler, but only until next year! She will be finishing the year at Willard North as a long-term sub in a kindergarten classroom.

FIELD DAY INFORMATION
We will start Field Day at 9:00 on Wednesday. You are welcome to join us for the fun if you would like. All students need to wear play clothes and tennis shoes for this event. Coach J is planning on the kids getting pretty wet if the weather is warm enough, so your child is encouraged to bring an extra set of dry clothes to change in to. As of right now the weather is looking pretty good for Wednesday but if it is chilly in the morning you may want to send a sweatshirt or jacket for your student. Don’t forget to send a sack lunch for your child if they did not sign up for a school sack lunch.
PRACTICE FOR READING ASSESSMENT
Don’t forget to have your child re-tell the story to you after reading together. If you are reading a chapter book, you can practice retelling after each chapter if that is easier for your child. This will really help them as I begin reading assessments next week! As I assess their reading they will be tested on accuracy, fluency (they are timed), and comprehension. They need to pass all three areas to move to the next level. For the comprehension part they need to retell the story in the correct sequence. This is why it is so important to practice.
