Genius Hour Update!

5/1/2015

Sorry for the late update on our Genius Hour progress! It has been a crazy week!!!
This week my guest blogger is Jarrett. He has been working on his project with a very special volunteer, his mother! That's right - Jarrett's mother has been volunteering her time on Tuesdays and Thursdays so she can work with a Genius Hour group!

Starting My Project

When I was starting my project I needed paint, glue, and a black poster board .Then I typed facts down in a star-ish looking thing. After I was done with that I started gluing on my planets. Then I printed the star-ish looking things out and glued them on to my poster board. After that I glued my heading on. My heading was “Is there gravity in space?” Then I drew a space station after that I wrote my name on the back. Mrs. Kramer is going to hang it up in the hallway and when I get it back I’m going to hang it up in my hallway at my house.

Just a few reminders for the week...

WALKING FIELD TRIP
Don’t forget… permission slips and money for Zott’s are due by Tuesday. You are welcome to walk with us to Zott’s if you would like. We will leave just after 2:00. You are also welcome to meet us at Zott’s around 2:30 if you would like.

SECRET DRESS UP DAY NEXT WEEK
Coach J thinks that next Wednesday is “Dress like your favorite teacher day”
HOWEVER… it is actually “Dress Like Coach J day.” Our goal is to have a school full of little Coach Js running around. Sadly, Coach J will not be at East next year. He is moving to the high school and will be the varsity girls basketball coach. We thought this would be a great way to pay a little tribute to him before he leaves.

HELPER SCHEDULE
Mon.– Kaylee
Tues.–  Noah
Wed.– Rigby
Thurs.– Torah
Fri.–  Travis

This week we learned about the solar    system, practiced dividing objects into halves and fourths, wrote a realistic fiction chapter book and practiced identifying story elements by reading fables. I cannot believe I only have 3 weeks left with your student! SO SAD!!!
