This week we also learned all about penguins. Did you know that there are 17 different types of penguins? Ask your student to share with you some of the amazing facts that we learned. We read about one penguin, Pierre, who had to wear a wetsuit for awhile due to his inability to grow feathers. You can watch the penguins and aquatic biologist at the California Academy of Sciences, where Pierre lived.

Please do not forget to return the permission slip that Ms. Peper sent home last week. This allows her to use examples of student work for her certification. No student names will ever be included with the submissions. Please let me know if you have questions!
UPCOMING ABSENCES
I will be attending a Leader in Me conference for school in KC on Tuesday and Wednesday February 21-22. Ms. Peper and Mrs. Lawson will both be in the classroom. Five teachers from East will be attending the conference. We cannot wait to learn more about this amazing program!!!
I will also be at a district meeting on Monday, February 27th. Mrs. Peper (and a substitute to be determined later) will be in the classroom.
