SPELLING LIST
you, your, up, on, upon, into Since next week is only a two day week, our spelling test will be on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2 REMINDER ABOUT NEW SPECIAL SCHEDULE Monday– P.E. Tuesday –Computer Wednesday—P.E and Library Thursday-Music Friday– Art MRS. KING’S LAST DAY Sadly, Thursday, December 2nd is Mrs. King’s last day with us. She will then go on to 3rd grade at Willard Central to student teach before graduating in May. We will be making a class book from Mrs. King, however, you may want to have your child write her a letter or card to show appreciate. She has done a fantastic job and we will miss having her in our room. ECONOMICS UNIT Every year first grade does a large economics unit during the month of December. Starting the Monday after Thanksgiving the students will be able to earn money (yes, pretend) for following directions, working quietly, showing respect, etc. Students will also pay fines for inappropriate behaviors, forgetting to put their names on papers, not cleaning up after themselves, etc. This is a great unit and the students LOVE it. Students will have the opportunity to spend the money they earn at a class store at the end of December. (More info to come soon!) One very difficult skill that is taught during this unit is counting money. This is something that I would love your help on. Please take the time to help your child practice this task at home. Students must be able to count money (bills and coins) to $1.00 for the grade card. Week of Nov 28th Monday– Sam (Happy Birthday) Tuesday– Kylie Wednesday– Malorie Thursday– Miles Friday– Trinity Symmetry Turkey Projects!I couldn't help but to share these with you! We recently learned about symmetry, halves, thirds and fourths. The students had so much fun creating these turkeys last week! Just a reminder - I will be gone tomorrow to Warrensburg, MO for a school observation. Please encourage your child to be on his or her very BEST behavior. Mrs. Whistler will be my substitute and Mrs. King will also be here. They will do a fantastic job and it is great that my class already knows them so well.
I will also be gone next Tuesday and Wednesday to another training about the new Common Core Standards. Don't forget... Veterans Day Assembly on Friday at 9:00 in the gym. Principal Miller had an idea of dressing in red, white and blue. Feel free to take part in this celebration! This weeks spelling words are want, was, some, said, do and doing |
