I really think that every week goes by faster than the week before! Sometimes that doesn't even seem possible - but this week FLEW by! We packed so much learning in and I always tell me kids
"time flies when you're having fun!"
We spent the week talking about maps and learning the key features of a map. We also spent some time focusing on the different ways to end a sentence and being sure that we were using punctuation in our writing. This can be a VERY challenging concept for some students (uhhhh.... adults, too!) We read some FANTASTIC books as mentor texts including The Pigeon Wants a Hot Dog and More Bears!
If you are not familiar with these books I highly recommend both!!!
On Thursday went to see the pumpkin patch at the high school thanks to Alana's mother. They transported us by hayride to the high school where we checked out the pumpkins, learned about the life cycle, and played some fun games. We even got to bring a pumpkin back to our classroom. We had an AMAZING time!!!
We wrapped up our week by diving into some non-fiction texts about spiders. Be sure to ask your child what interesting things they learned about spiders today!

MS. PEREZ
I am sure your student has probably told you about our practicum student, Ms. Perez. She has been doing an OUTSTANDING job in our classroom! This week she taught a writing lesson modeled after a classroom favorite, The Pigeon Wants a Hot Dog by Mo Willems. Students even got to learn how to draw the infamous pigeon. Ms. Perez still have a few weeks with us, but her remaining time will FLY by! I know she is currently working on buying and collecting books for own future classroom (next year!) If you have any gently used books that you would like to donate I will be putting together a basket of books for our class to give her on her last day with us. If you would like to donate any books please send them to school no later than Friday, November 6th. We will surprise her with our gift the following week. Please let me know if you have any questions!
